If you have an elderly relative, spouse or partner, you have probably been made aware of the personal alarm systems which are connected to your phone line. When the button is pressed an operator will either contact your nominated key holder or the emergency services.

These are ideal for use in your home, but what about when you leave your home to go shopping, visiting family or friends or simply want to go for a stroll in the park. Unfortunately, these types of devices only have a range of about 30, meters and if wandering behaviour is a problem, then these devices do not offer you the protection required to deal with such situations.

The Pin Point Pendant is a personal tracker that gives the wearer direct access to nominated carers with the press of a button as well as incorporating GPS location technology which enables you too quickly and accurately locate the personal tracker when outside the home environment.

The device has three buttons, the middle button is the SOS function which when pressed, will send an SOS message via SMS, also containing GPS co-ordinates to up to three mobile phones. The device will then proceed to ring each contact until answered, when answered two way audio communication can commence, allowing you to reassure the wearer that help is on its way. The position can be identified using the co-ordinates contained within the message to accurately identify the position of the personal tracker.

The call 1 and 2 buttons can have mobile or landline numbers attached for use as a simple to use telephone device enabling the wearer to speak with family members at the touch of a button.

The device is provided with a safety lanyard so that it can be worn around the neck.

Additional Feature

It can sometimes be the case that the wearer of the personal tracker is unable to raise an alarm or not in a state of mind that enables them to understand their situation. This is often the case with dementia sufferers, particularly those with Alzheimer's for which it is estimated that 1 in 3 will wander at some point.

In these cases, the personal tracker can be located by simply sending it an SMS, the personal tracker will respond with the current or last known position for the device, without any participation from the wearer. The device will also alert you when the battery level falls below 30%, so that you can take the necessary precautions.

Additional Services

Pin Point also offer a variety of monthly subscription options which give additional benefits including the ability to track the position of the personal tracker in real time. This is ideal for use with the Geo fence function, which enables you to set up restricted zones that if the personal tracker enters or leaves, you can receive alerts on screen, via email and SMS.

Email and SMS alerts can be set to give you information including approximate street address and house number as well as a Map Link and mobile login application. The wearer of the personal tracker can also send out an SOS, which you will be alerted to in the same way.

This personal tracker needs no input from the wearer and its features are ideal for use with those who experience wandering behaviour, but do not want or need to be put into full time residential care.

Restrictions

GPS signals are incapable of penetrating solid objects that are non-transparent. The signal will also be affected by surface cover such as tall buildings, tunnels, elevated expressways, forests etc., or weather conditions such as overcast and rain.
