Appendix A. Specifications

1. Preface

Congratulations on purchasing the GPS Pendant from Pin Point Service. This manual explains how to look after the device correctly.
Make sure to read this manual carefully before using this product.

2. Introduction

The Pin Point Personal GPS Pendant device with built in GPS and GSM/GPRS technology is amongst the most compact size available and is ideal for use in assisting the protection of several vulnerable groups.

3.1. About GPS

GPS signals are incapable of penetrating solid objects that are non-transparent. The signal will also be affected by surface cover such as tall buildings, tunnels, elevated expressways, forests etc., or weather conditions such as overcast and rain.
All wireless communication devices such as cell phones, or traffic police speed detectors can occasionally interfere with the reception of GPS signals and results in unstable signals.
There is no guarantee that SOS message will be successfully sent at distressed environment where GPS or GSM signals are weak.

3.2. SIM Card and Battery

 The battery is pre-installed and cannot be removed or replaced. SIM card is not included allowing you to insert your own which can be either contract or Pay As You Go.


4. Fees

Text FIND’s, Text ALERT will be charged as SMS at network rates. Two-way communication will be charged the same as voice minutes on a mobile phone at your operators network rates.


5. User settings

As part of the service we provide, we will set up your device to your own specifications. This request will be sent by email following successful completion of the ordering process.

5.1. Report Phone Numbers

Several phone numbers can be programmed into the device, allowing the wearer to send out distress SOS text FIND and engage in two way communications.

6. Operation and Features

Please charge the battery to capacity, which will take approximately 8-12 hours for first use, using the charger provided. The lead should be plugged into the slot shown as USB port, taking care to ensure it is inserted the correct way around.
This unit has a built-in Li-ion battery, please keep this charged to ensure it is ready when needed. After first use, the battery can be charged fully in 3-5hours, for added security, a text ALERT will be sent if battery power goes below 30%.
Turn on the unit outdoors to ensure a GPS signal is gained, by pushing the power button to "on"
In between 10 and 40 seconds, the unit will begin to work and acquire the GSM and GPS signals.
The indicator will keep flashing every 3 seconds (GPS indicator-blue, GPRS-orange) when the unit has received the signals, if no signal is received, the lights will stay solid.
When this unit receives GPS signals normally, it will automatically start to send its position to the Pin Point Live GPS programme.

6.1. Turn Tracker On/Off

Push and hold the recessed power switch, all lights will light up until a signal is found. This may take up to 1 minute depending on signal strength. This must be done in an outdoor area to ensure maximum signal strength.

To turn off, push and hold the power switch until all lights go out.

6.2. SIM Card Slot
 
The SIM card must be installed as shown in the picture below, using a coin push the SIM into the slot until a click is heard. 8.jpg

6.3. Loud Speaker

Transmits voice of caller, when engaged in two-way communication.

6.4. Microphone

Transmits voice of wearer, when engaged in two-way communication.

6.5. USB/Charging port

Switch unit off and plug your charger into this port

6.6. Indicators Lights

There are three indicator lights visible on the front panel of the Pendant:

Amber
 The GPRS indicator light, when flashing it shows that a signal is being received
 
Red
 Power indicator, remains solid and shows the device has power
 
Blue
 GPS indicator light, when flashing it shows that a GPS signal is being received.
 

6.7. Buttons

SOS
When this button is pressed and held for three seconds, the device will automatically send a Text FIND message to the first number in the list and within minutes will automatically call each number in the list until answered.
If subscribed to online tracking, this alert will also be audibly and visually displayed on your tracking screen as well as sending email alerts until alarm is dealt with.
Up to three numbers can be programmed into the device for SOS response, which should be mobile phone numbers.

NOTE: The device will class answering by voice mail to be a call answered.
 
 Call 1
When this button is pressed and held for three seconds, the device will automatically dial the number programmed into this position, allowing two way audio to commence.
 
 Call 2
When this button is pressed and held for three seconds, the device will automatically dial the number programmed into this position, allowing two way audio to commence.
 

6.8. Two Way Audio

The Pendant Tracker enables the wearer to engage in two way audio communication, just like a mobile phone. This can be utilised by pressing SOS or either call buttons.

6.9. Text Finds

You can send a text FIND message to the GPS Pendant and it will respond with detailed GPS information regarding the wearer’s current position. If you have a smart phone, opening the message will produce a map indicating the location.
The message sent to the device will be:  PASSWORDF

    i.e. 123456F

   (1) Tracker will start to fix its GPS position

   (2) Tracker will report the current position if position fix succeeds.

   (3) Tracker will report the latest position if position fix fails.

Typically takes around 30 seconds if GPS signal can be established.

 
NOTE: Text FIND is automatically sent went SOS is pressed

6.10. Text Alerts

The GPS Pendant is pre-programmed to send out a Text ALERT when battery level falls below 30%.
Please contact us if you wish to turn this feature off.
